Khách hàng đặt bóng bay gốm vì những lí do khác nhau. “Lí do” ở đây là những câu chuyện của họ: người đặt hàng cho bạn, người đặt cho con, người đặt cho em bé sắp sinh, người đặt đơn giản chỉ vì họ muốn trang trí không gian của mình: phòng khách, phòng sinh hoạt gia đình, studio, v.v. Khi thực hiện mỗi order, tôi luôn muốn hiểu xem khách hàng mua sản phẩm của tôi để làm gì. Những câu chuyện của họ thường là những câu chuyện rất đơn giản – đơn giản như quả bóng bay. Và tôi nhận ra chính những điều đơn giản lại hay mang đến cho chúng ta niềm vui, những tình cảm tích cực, trong sáng. Mỗi khi thấy khách hàng như reo lên trong tin nhắn, tôi cảm thấy vừa vui vừa buồn cười. Vui vì thấy tác phẩm mình tạo ra làm cho nhiều người khác cũng vui. Buồn cười vì tôi nhận ra rằng dù có lớn mấy đi nữa thì mỗi chúng ta luôn có những khoảnh khắc là một đứa trẻ con, phấn khởi có khi vì những điều thật … vớ vẩn, chẳng quan trọng gì.
Có những khách hàng hiểu về đồ gốm nên rất thông cảm với tôi khi có sự cố xảy ra (vỡ hoặc nứt). Họ sẵn sàng đợi thêm vài tuần vì họ rất muốn có một quả bóng bay gốm. Có những khách hàng khó tính – chỉ cần qua trao đổi tin nhắn tôi cũng có thể cảm thấy rằng nếu ship hàng chỉ muộn một ngày thôi là họ sẽ rất bực mình – chứ đừng nói gì đến việc giải trình tại sao bóng lại vỡ. Dù khách hàng là người như thế nào thì đơn đặt hàng của họ đều quan trọng như nhau và tôi luôn cảm thấy mình phải có trách nhiệm hết mức có thể để tạo ra những sản phẩm hoàn hảo nhất – và giao hàng sớm nhất có thể. Điều này tạo ra không ít áp lực cho tôi vì làm đồ gốm hiện tại vẫn là công việc bán thời gian của tôi. Tôi làm và bán bóng bay gốm không phải với động lực tài chính, mà để thoả mãn sở thích làm đồ gốm của mình (và làm mọi người vui!). Mỗi công đoạn trong quá trình làm đồ gốm là một thử nghiệm tốn nhiều thời gian. Với công việc toàn thời gian hiện tại của mình – một công việc cần 40-60 tiếng một tuần của tôi ở văn phòng, có thời gian thực hiện nhiều thử nghiệm, và có những thử nghiệm/sản phẩm thành công để giao hàng đúng thời hạn là một điều không hề đơn giản. Tôi may mắn tìm được một vài người hiểu biết và hào phóng cho tôi những lời góp ý cuả họ. Một vài người trong số họ – tôi chưa từng gặp trực tiếp, chưa bao giờ theo dõi họ trên mạng xã hội. Không phải lời khuyên nào cũng giúp tôi xử lí được vấn để của mình. Làm đồ gốm là như vậy – mỗi người có một sản phẩm sở trường. Mỗi sản phẩm có hình dáng, khác nhau vì thế những mẹo cho sản phẩm này chưa chắc đã thành công trên sản phẩm khác. Nhưng qua những lời khuyên này tôi biết thêm một vài kỹ thuật làm đồ gốm và biết được mình nên thử nghiệm những yếu tố gì của một sản phẩm.
“Căng thẳng” với hai công việc, “căng thẳng” vì sợ bóng “vỡ”, căng thẳng vì sợ làm khách hàng thất vọng; nhưng giờ tôi đã bắt đầu quen với những sự căng thẳng này và có cách xử lý hiệu quả. Tôi không ngại làm đi làm lại, làm nhiều bóng – dù chỉ là để thử nghiệm vì đó là điều tôi thích làm (và tôi cũng không có lựa chọn nào khác để thực hiện những thử nghiệm của mình). Quá trình tự học này đôi khiến tôi mất ăn mất ngủ nhưng nó cũng đem lại những bài học vô giá về sự kiên trì, nó giúp tôi hiểu thêm về bản thân mình, và nó mang đến cơ hội để tôi có thể tạo nên những điều, những kỷ niệm đặc biệt cho các khách hàng của tôi.
